Wooden garden furniture can be an asset to any garden, such as garden benches, wooden coffee tables and picnic suites and chairs, and will last you for years to come depending on what type of wood it’s constructed from and how your furniture has been made in the first place.
If you want your wooden garden furniture to last you for years to come then I would advise that it’s not a good idea to buy flat pack furniture, this type of furniture just simply isn’t built to last.
More often than not, this type of furniture is of very poor quality, it is mass produce out of inferior materials so the manufacturers can sell it cheaply.I must admit, I really hate flat pack garden furniture, (well, anything comes as a flat pack!), firstly the instructions don’t usually make sense, and secondly, the furniture is designed so it’s easy to manufacture on a large scale, it’s not built to last.
If you really want your new wooden garden furniture to last for years to come, stay away from the flat pack types of furniture and go for furniture that is made from hardwood, and is constructed with proper, solid mortice and tenon joints.
One great advantage with this kind of wooden garden furniture is that it is delivered already constructed for you, that saves you the hassle of trying to work out how to construct the furniture yourself, that reason alone is worth paying the extra price in my mind.
All types of wood naturally expand and contract during the different weather conditions, but if you buy wooden garden furniture that is made from hardwood, the elements won’t effect it as much as hardwood is far more resistant to the elements than softwood. You don’t actually even have to treat hardwood furniture but most people do just to keep the original color of the wood intact.
